On August 15, 2025, Capiz State University (CAPSU) experts spearheaded a Virtual Seminar on Intellectual Property (IP) Fundamentals for the faculty-researchers of Northwestern University. Organized as part of a collaborative initiative, the activity aimed to strengthen awareness on IP protection, share CAPSU’s best practices, and highlight its role in safeguarding innovations and creative works. The seminar featured insightful talks from CAPSU’s IP experts—covering patents, copyrights, and trademarks—and was opened by NU’s Dr. Eric S. Parilla and CAPSU’s Dr. Leo Andrew B. Biclar, both underscoring the importance of IP in advancing innovation and community development.
The Top 10 teams of the 2025 CAPSU EyLITE Challenge were officially welcomed as incubatees during the orientation held on August 16, 2025, at the CAPSU Mambusao Satellite College Accreditation Room, made possible through the support of Director Dr. Ramy Lloyd L. Lotilla despite a city-wide power outage in Roxas City. The event, designed to set the stage for the EyLITE Challenge Special Incubation Program, featured opening remarks from Prof. Princess Lydia S. Fuentes, ITSD Chief, followed by a comprehensive presentation from Mr. Mark Glenn F. Villamor, TBI Center Manager, on the project’s background, timeline, and deliverables. Mr. Albert O. Bernardo, CAPSULE TBI Manager, further guided the participants by discussing the range of services and incubation process, equipping the teams with valuable insights as they begin their transformative journey of turning innovative ideas into viable enterprises.
Capiz State University (CAPSU) made a strong mark at the 2025 National Coconut Research and Development (R&D) Congress Technology Pitching held on July 30, 2025, in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, organized by DOST-PCAARRD. Engr. Marilyn L. Bernabe of CAPSU Burias Campus presented the Coconut Twining Machine and secured 3rd Place in both the Poster and Technology Pitching categories, while Engr. Marty C. Delfin of CAPSU Pontevedra Campus showcased his Coconut Dehusker innovation. The event provided a platform to highlight research-driven technologies in the coconut industry, affirming CAPSU’s commitment to advancing agricultural innovation and sustainable development.
CAPSULE TBI proudly celebrates the active participation of its incubatees in the 3-day Innovators Summit 2025, where local startups engaged in workshops, exhibits, and pitching competitions alongside industry leaders and investors. Highlighting the event, Ms. Maria Carmen F. Besa, owner of 7JF Steel Fabrication, clinched 5th place out of 17 presenters with her pitch on the PRESS PRO Calamansi Juice Extractor— a CAPSU-licensed technology that offers efficient and scalable juice extraction. Capiz State University’s Technology Business Incubator (CAPSU TBI) team proudly joined the Coastline 5023 TBI Completion Program, a collaborative event with the Wadhwani Foundation and UP Visayas, which featured sessions on the SagONE Innovation Bootcamp, the Wadhwani Foundation, and a keynote by Start-Up Mindset author Earl Martin Valencia. The CAPSU Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO) has launched an exciting new program designed to empower students and young innovators with groundbreaking ideas — the 2025 CAPSU EyLITE Challenge. This initiative offers a platform for aspiring changemakers to transform their concepts into impactful solutions. Open to CAPSU students and faculty between the ages of 18 and 28, the challenge focuses on innovations in Agri-Aqua and Fisheries, Food Innovation, Technology and Digital Solutions, and Community-based Products and Services. Participants are invited to submit their requirements by June 6, 2025, either at the IPMO, TBI Center in Roxas City or via ipmo@capsu.edu.ph. In celebration of National Intellectual Property Month, Capiz State University, through its IP Management Office, held a two-day Patent Search and Drafting Training on Industrial Design on April 28–29, 2025. With expert sessions led by Engr. Monalyn Oloroso and Engr. Edmil Jhon Ariques, the workshop empowered faculty-researchers across CAPSU to boost their IP skills—resulting in the filing of 13 industrial design applications. This initiative reflects CAPSU’s dedication to innovation, IP protection, and strengthening research capacity university-wide.

On April 22, 2025, Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) visited Capiz State University (CAPSU) for a benchmarking activity focused on innovation and incubation. CAPSU showcased its CAPSULE Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (ATBI) program, shared best practices, and facilitated a tour of its TBI facilities and OG Kope, a local incubatee. The visit fostered knowledge exchange and opened doors for future collaborations in building stronger innovation ecosystems.
On April 14, 2025, Capiz State University hosted a benchmarking activity for the RAISE SOCCSKSARGEN project teams, including delegates from five state universities in Mindanao. Led by SUC President III Dr. Efren L. Linan, CAPSU shared its best practices in research, innovation, and incubation, followed by a visit to 4G Ice Cream, a successful ATBI incubatee. The activity fostered collaboration and reaffirmed the shared commitment to advancing regional development through technology and entrepreneurship.
Capiz State University joined the 1st Technical Working Group Meeting and Consultation Workshop for Startup Development on April 8, 2025, at the NEDA Regional Office VI in Iloilo City. The event marked the launch of the Ad Hoc Committee for Regional Startup Development, where CAPSU reaffirmed its support for building a strong, inclusive startup ecosystem in Western Visayas. Represented by key RDE and incubator leaders, the university pledged continued collaboration in advancing the region's Startup Development Action Plan.
Capiz State University (CAPSU) received the Platinum Award and Special Citation on Copyright from IPOPHL during the 2025 ITSO Presidents' Summit. The awards recognize CAPSU’s outstanding achievements in innovation and intellectual property, including multiple IP trainings, applications, and commercialized technologies. This milestone highlights CAPSU’s commitment to advancing research and innovation for national development.
Capiz State University (CAPSU) has authorized certain businesses to print, reproduce, and distribute materials bearing the official CAPSU name and logo. These businesses are the only ones allowed to use the branding for merchandise and promotional items. Unauthorized use is prohibited and may result in legal action.
Last March 12, 2025, CAPSU has signed a Ceremonial Trademark Licensing Agreement (TLA) with 25 printing firms, paving the way for the commercialization of its name and logo. The agreement aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, promoting innovation and intellectual property protection. The agreement also includes a Technology Licensing Agreement with 7JF Steel Fabrication, a CAPSU incubatee.
CPUGAD TBI and CAPSULE TBI conducted benchmarking activities at CAPSULE TBI to explore best practices in IP policy, technology transfer, startup development, spin-offs, and industry collaboration. They visited CAPSULE TBI incubatees to witness startup nurturing and thriving, fostering a stronger startup ecosystem.
CAPSU IPMO's Project Technical Assistants, Ms. Jenelyn D. Pines and Ms. Mae Ann L. Lavado, facilitated a session on Prior Art Search for BS Entrepreneurship students. They guided students through patent search tools, ensuring originality and avoiding potential infringements.
On March 6, 2025, UMWAD held an initiative to assess the startup landscape, identify growth opportunities, and address support system gaps. The event involved Frylab Accelerator, DOST region, government agencies, stakeholders, NGOs, faculty, and entrepreneurs.
Cebu Technological University visited CAPSULE TBI from February 17-19, 2025 to discuss business incubation policies, best practices, and technology transfer strategies. The visit facilitated knowledge exchange, innovation-driven discussions, and improved startup development, technology commercialization, and entrepreneurial ecosystem-building.
Last March 4, 2025, the IPMO Team wrapped up the IP Audit across Capiz State University. The final venues were Capiz State University - Main Campus and Capiz State University - Dayao Satellite College. These were the final audits for this year. The team assessed the different intellectual properties of the final schools assessed .

Last February 24, 2025, the IP Audit across the Capiz State University kicked off. IPMO Director, Mr. French A. Dampog together with his team, Technology Transfer Officers, Dr. Rosine O. Labado, Prof. Princess Lydia S. Fuentes and Engr. Monalyn L. Oloroso started the audit at Capiz State University - Dumarao Satellite College followed by Capiz State University - Sigma Satellite College. This audit aimed to check the registered technologies, filed intellectual properties of the said satellite colleges.
Capiz State University held a consultation and presentation of CAPSU Trademark Logo and Licensing Guidelines to all printing firms in Capiz and stakeholders. This event allowed the printing firms and stakeholders to have a walkthrough and detailed explanations about the CAPSU Trademark Logo or/and Name as it will collect royalties, reports, and partnerships to the licensed firms.

Biclar flew to Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus for the Zonal Conference for Visayas on Program PROPEL as the representative of the Capiz State University last February 20, 2025. The conference served as a platform to foster partnerships supporting science-based startups and enterprises.
DOST PCAARD Startup Grand Fund (SGF) Proposal Writeshop Day 2 continued last February 18, 2025. Giving more attention to different Incubatees for their proposals. With the help of the ATBI & ABI Team, they continue to input information in their respective proposals.
SGF Proposal Writeshop Day 1 has begun on February 17, 2025. It is a two-day workshop to help the incubatees to apply for the grant provided by the DOST PCAARD for their respective business. Ms. Princess P. Palawan, introduce and present the forms to be supplemented with the incubatees information.
CAPSU has partnered with the FDA to enhance the ATBI and ABI incubatees by providing various improvements that can be implemented within these programs last February 13, 2025. Through this collaboration, CAPSU is committed to adhering to the FDA Act of 2009, the Food Safety Act of 2013, and the Ease of Doing Business Act of 2018.
Mr. Jeffrey Carpio, UMWAD 's Project Development Officer visited CAPSU IPMO last February 10, 2025. Together with the ATBI and ABI Staff and CAPSU IPMO Director, Prof. French A. Dampog, they are also joined by Engr. Mae Avee C. Gregorios representative of DOST - PSTO Capiz. They tackled the target activities of the two (2) TBIs for the rest of the year.

CAPSU-ATBI together with the Revenue District Office 72 conducts Training-Workshop on Business Taxation for the Batch 4 Incubatees last January 24, 2025. In this training-workshop, the incubatees where taught on different services and different sectors on BIR and how taxes is collected from their businesses.
