Calabash (Crescentia cujete), is a perennial plant, commonly used as an ornamental plant, distinct for its smooth spherical fruits that resemble a coconut. It is also commonly known as “Miracle Plant” for its wide array of known health benefits. The fruit from the plant has gained an extraordinary repute as a remedy for respiratory ailments such as coughs, colds, and even asthma (Morton 1968). Recent studies further highlight its pharmacological properties, revealing its potential as an antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antimycobacterial, anticholesterol, antivenom, wound-healing, and neuroprotective agent (Balogun & Sabiu, 2023).
